Warsaw the capital of motorsport – the VERVA Street Racing is over with!

Already for the second time, nearly 85 thousand motorsport fans watched the struggles of the best drivers on the street circuit built in the very heart of the city! Nearly 110 top rally and racing series vehicles gathered in one place. The absolute hits like Porsche Supercup, Forrmula 3, Formula 1, NASCAR, GT3, Le Mans and the cars taking part in rallies and flat terrain races were also present. The second edition of the VERVA Street Racing is over with!

A total number of 110 cars and motorcycles raced on the street circuit, which this year had the length of 1200 meters and within 9 days was built around the Theatre Square (Senatorska, Wierzbowa and Focha Streets). The teams came from 10 countries: Andorra, England, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Monaco, Germany, Portugal and Sweden, and the drivers, car mechanics and other members of the teams made up a total number of 500 people.

The races started with FMX riders’ show (Motocross Freestyle) who toyed with the laws of gravity. Shortly after that, the parade of unimaginably expensive and ultra-super sports cars entered the track.

The interesting thing was the race of the Formula 3 sports cars enriched with a real Pit Stop carried out by Polish celebrities. The winner was the STAR team with Kuba Giermaziak behind the wheel. The mechanics were Aleksandra Szwed, Maja Bohosiewicz, Stanisław Karpiel-Bułecka and Maciej Zurawski. The second position won the You Can Dance team consisting of Anna Bosak, Maciek Florek, Dominik Olechowski and Paulina Przestalska.  The third place of the podium was taken by the X-Factor team, i.e. Michal Szpak, Adrianna Szulc, Mats Meguenni, Anna Karamon and Aleksandra Nowak.

This is a fantastic event; I regret that we do not have it in England! - said Jay Kay, the lead singer from Jamiroquai who starred in the VERVA Street Racing on the occasion of his visit to Poland. He came along with his unique Porsche 914/6GT from 1970 and took part in the race of other legendary vehicles of this brand.

An outstanding attraction was also a visit of Ben Collins i.e. the Stig, who for 8 years featured in the famous TV program, Top Gear. In addition to his struggling on the track when driving Shelby, he was also signing his book during the Pit Party.

Without hesitation one can say that the celebrities and the Dakar Rally champions exchanged the desert into the street asphalt with the smile on their faces. Car drivers Krzysztof Holowczyc and Stephane Peterhansel and motorcyclists Kuba Przygonski, Marek Dabrowski, Helder Rodrigues, Ruben Faria, Marc Coma and Cyril Despres presented the great power of their off-road machines.

The audience was impressed by historic Formula 1 sports cars of the legendary Lotus Team, which presented a technology and design cross-section from the 60ies to the 90ies. Those were eagerly photographed by the visitors coming to the paddock (the machine park) during the Pit Party.

The ride of the NASCAR was spectacularly welcomed by the audience. The roars of the Toyota Camry engine arouse unusual emotions. Tomasz Kuchar, the guest driver of the American speed demon, went all out causing the rear tire to explode at the end of the show.

The rain, which could bedevil the racing program, contrary to what it looked like, chose the best moment of the event. It wetted the route just before the show of the best Polish drifters, including Kuba Przygonski, Marek Dabrowski, Helder Rodrigues, Ruben Faria, Marc Coma and Cyril Despres, making the controlled skids even more spectacular than in dry conditions.
